Val began training in the spring of 2012 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at Mega Church BJJ. A few years later, her and her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho. She has three children. Val is a registered nurse. Her and her husband are currently brown belts in BJJ. Val has competed in several competitions over the years. Her favorite submission is the head and arm triangle.
