Coach Victor Pamplona brings a lifetime of martial arts experience, military leadership, and a passion for developing athletes to the Blackfoot Jiu Jitsu coaching team.

A former Sergeant in the Hawaii and Idaho Army National Guard, Victor has dedicated his life to service, discipline, and mentoring others. Those same values have shaped his approach to martial arts and coaching throughout his career.

Victor’s martial arts journey began at an early age when his father introduced him to boxing and karate. Growing up, his older brother also sparked his interest in martial arts through Taekwondo, laying the foundation for what would become a lifelong pursuit of combat sports.

He wrestled all four years in high school while simultaneously training in Muay Thai Kickboxing. His dedication to wrestling earned him the opportunity to try out for the wrestling program at the University of Southern Colorado (now Colorado State University Pueblo), where he continued pursuing his passion for competition and athletic development.

Over the years, Victor has trained extensively in a wide range of combat disciplines, including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Folkstyle Wrestling, Catch Wrestling, Boxing, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Mixed Martial Arts. His diverse background allows him to blend techniques from multiple disciplines, creating a practical and well-rounded coaching style that benefits students of every experience level.

Beyond his own training, Victor has become highly respected as a coach throughout Southeast Idaho. He has coached striking and mixed martial arts for athletes across the region, served as a high school wrestling coach in Idaho Falls, and has helped develop wrestlers, martial artists, and competitors at every stage of their journey. Today, he continues coaching in Idaho Falls while also sharing his knowledge with students at Blackfoot Jiu Jitsu.

Victor is known for his ability to connect with students of all ages—from young children learning their first takedown to experienced competitors preparing for tournament competition. His coaching emphasizes strong fundamentals, technical precision, mental toughness, and continuous improvement. He believes that martial arts are about much more than learning to fight—they are about building discipline, confidence, resilience, and character that carry over into every aspect of life.

Whether your goal is self-defense, competition, fitness, or personal growth, Coach Victor is committed to helping every student reach their full potential. His experience, leadership, and passion for teaching make him an invaluable part of the Blackfoot Jiu Jitsu coaching staff.

“A good coach can change a game. A great coach can change a life.”

We are proud to have Coach Victor Pamplona as part of the Blackfoot Jiu Jitsu family and look forward to helping every student grow under his guidance.
